Under Construction

You’ve probably noticed that we’ve moved away from updating this blog and have been sharing most of our news via social media. Once we finish the process of moving the cafe upstairs, this site will also be getting a facelift & partial reconstruction. In the meantime, please follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram (or all three) for the latest and greatest from Maglianero!

Cycling in Cuba: Experiencing the Modern Mobility Movement Firsthand

Across communities and continents, people are traveling and commuting in growing numbers by more inspired and more intelligent means of transportation, the bicycle chief among them. This is the Modern Mobility Movement, and we’re proud to be at its  forefront, providing fuel for the ride and a place to converge, connect, and be inspired.

In this spirit, we’ve teamed up with Local Motion to host a series of Travel Talks—glimpses into how the Movement is transforming lives and economies across the globe. The first Travel Talk transported us to Cuba, with Old Spokes Home owner Glenn Eames. Read More »

Blogger Me This

brian kleiber - culture cycles

Hey there, how’s it going? My name is Brian Kleiber – I’m a cyclist, skateboarder, and internet marketer living here in Burlington, VT for the past 5 ½ years. Maybe you’ve happened upon my site, Culture Cycles, or maybe you’ve even attended one of our events such as the annual Monster Mash. Perhaps we’ve even skated together at one point or another. Anyway, I’ll be a regular contributor here, adding my thoughts on the community, coffee, cycling, and what the Modern Mobility Movement means to me and my lifestyle. Read More »

Budnitz Bicycles moves to Burlington!

I’m sure you’ve noticed – there’s been a bit of noise and structural adjustments happening in the café these past few weeks. We promise the annoyance is worthwhile. We’re in the midst of building the future home of Budnitz Bicycles, a bike brand like no other. Their sleek, titanium rides are among the most elegant city bikes around, and soon they’ll be made right here in Burlington. (You may recognize the bikes and name from this post back in September.)

The arrival of the Budnitz crew in Burlington is a powerful push forward for the Modern Mobility Movement and for Burlington at large. And we’re not the only ones excited. Read More »

Halloween Ride Recap

We had an awesome turn-out Halloween weekend for the Second Annual Halloween Bike Parade. From the Fantastic Fox Family to the Knights Who-Say-Nee, it seemed like every possible character came out to enjoy the beautiful day, a spin around town, tacos from the Muchacho Taco food truck, and fresh, premium Maglianero coffee.

A big thank you to the wonderful riders who joined us. And a special thank you to the modern mobility minds and organizations who made it all possible – Local Motion, Old Spokes Home, the Burlington Bike Walk Council, and the Burlington Bike Cycle.

Check out our photo album on Facebook. Can you find yourself?

Already looking forward to next year!

Retro Cycles – 90s Bike Messengers

Burlington local and Maglianero regular Brian Kleiber of the blog Culture Cycles unearthed this stunning photo series, and it needed to be shared.

Photographer Trevor Hughes spent the 90s working as a bicycle messenger in Toronto, taking a camera with him along the ride. The subsequent Flickr album spans the years from 1992-1998, recording the bikes, the culture, and the characters that made up the cycle scene.

Gritty and honest, Brian’s right. You will spend the next hour flicking through photographs – and you’ll definitely discover some inspiration for Modern Mobility‘s future.
